Human: Ancient Version, Petroglyph V8, Khatm Al Melaha, Kalba, Sharjah. A lone Syrian Wild Ass dominates the landscape. Dating back to the Neolithic era or earlier, this motif is a common sight in southern Arabia, Oman, and the UAE. [Fossati 2019 Messages from the Past: Rock Art of the Al-Hajar Mountains (Oman)]. Khatm Al Melaha stands as an archaeological site on the coast of the Oman Sea near Kalba in Sharjah, UAE, boasting one of the largest rock art sites in the country. In addition to petroglyphs, stone houses, a shell midden, stone tombs, and other features reveal that this site has been occupied from at least the early Holocene era to the 19th century. Over 175 stones bearing petroglyphs were meticulously documented, and nearly 400 motifs were identified. Each rock with a glyph was assigned a unique ID number and GPS coordinate. In a single day, an impressive total of 25,455 terrestrial photographs, 5,244 drone photographs, 44 drone videos, and 182 precision GPS points (+/- 1cm) were captured. Reality Capture Technology
