[Fossati 2019 Messages from the Past: Rock Art of the Al-Hajar Mountains (Oman)].\nKhatm Al Melaha, an archaeological site on the coast of the Oman Sea near Kalba in Sharjah, UAE, boasts one of the largest rock art collections in the country. The site features stone houses, a shell midden, stone tombs, and other remnants that span occupations from the early Holocene to the 19th century.\nOver 175 stones with petroglyphs were meticulously documented, revealing nearly 400 distinct motifs. Each rock with a glyph was assigned an ID number and GPS coordinate for precise tracking. In a single day, researchers captured over 25,455 terrestrial photographs, 5,244 drone photographs, 44 drone videos, and 182 GPS points with pinpoint accuracy (+/- 1cm).\nReality Capture and Substance Painter technology brought the ancient site to life.
