Human: Petroglyph V26 Khatm Al Melaha, Kalba, Sharjah, UAE. Two Syrian wild ass are depicted, likely dating back to the Neolithic or earlier period. [Fossati 2019 Messages from the Past: Rock Art of the Al-Hajar Mountains (Oman)].\nKhatm Al Melaha is a significant archaeological site located on the coast of the Oman Sea near Kalba in Sharjah, UAE, boasting one of the largest rock art collections in the country.\nOver 175 stones featuring petroglyphs were meticulously documented and nearly 400 distinct motifs were identified. Each rock with a glyph was assigned a unique ID number and GPS coordinate. In a single day, an impressive total of 25455 terrestrial photographs, 5244 drone photographs, 44 drone videos, and 182 precise GPS points (+/- 1cm) were captured.\nPetroglyphs were accurately detected using Radiance Scaling in Meshlab, materials lighting in Substance Painter, and manipulating conditions on Sketchfab. Certain carvings remained invisible until viewed under specific conditions. Drawings were created only when a clear line was identifiable through one of these techniques. Reality Capture technology played a crucial role in the documentation process.
