Human: Natural Version, Petroglyph V24, Khatm Al Melaha, Kalba, Sharjah. The Syrian Wild Ass is an ancient symbol found throughout southern Arabia, Oman, and the UAE. Neolithic or earlier rock art features this common motif [Fossati 2019 Messages from the Past: Rock Art of the Al-Hajar Mountains (Oman)].\nKhatm Al Melaha is a significant archaeological site located on the coast of the Oman Sea near Kalba in Sharjah, UAE. This extensive rock art site boasts numerous stone houses, a shell midden, stone tombs and other features that demonstrate human occupation from at least the early Holocene to the 19th century.\nOver 175 stones with petroglyphs were meticulously documented, revealing close to 400 distinctive motifs. Every rock bearing a glyph was assigned a unique ID number and GPS coordinate. In a single day, an impressive total of 25455 terrestrial photographs, 5244 drone photographs, 44 drone videos, and 182 precise GPS points (+/- 1cm) were captured in the field by Reality Capture technology.
