Petroglyph V22 Khatm Al Melaha, Kalba, Sharjah, is home to the majestic Syrian Wild Ass. A distinctive curved line below the animal is a notable feature. It likely dates back to the Neolithic period, around 5th-4th Millennium BCE [Fossati 2019 Messages from the Past: Rock Art of the Al-Hajar Mountains (Oman)].\nKhatm Al Melaha is an impressive archaeological site located on the coast of the Oman Sea near Kalba in Sharjah, UAE. It stands out as one of the largest rock art sites in the UAE. The site also features stone houses, a shell midden, and stone tombs that demonstrate human occupation from at least the early Holocene to the 19th century.\nA total of over 175 stones with petroglyphs were documented, with nearly 400 motifs identified. Each rock with a glyph was assigned an ID number and a GPS coordinate. In just one day, a massive effort yielded 25,455 terrestrial photographs, 5,244 drone photographs, 44 drone videos, and 182 GPS points accurate to within 1cm, all processed in Reality Capture.
