Petroglyph V20 Khatm Al Melaha, Kalba, Sharjah. Three Syrian Wild Ass likely originate from the Neolithic period, specifically between the 5th and 4th Millennium BCE as reported by Fossati in Messages from the Past: Rock Art of the Al-Hajar Mountains (Oman). Khatm Al Melaha stands out as a remarkable archaeological site situated on the coast of the Oman Sea near Kalba in Sharjah, UAE. This site boasts one of the largest collections of rock art in the UAE, showcasing an extensive array of stone houses, shell middens, and intricately carved stone tombs. Careful documentation reveals that over 175 stones feature intricate petroglyphs, with nearly 400 distinct motifs identified across the site. Each stone bearing a glyph was assigned a unique ID number, accompanied by its precise GPS coordinate. The sheer scope of this project is staggering, with a single day yielding an astonishing total of 25455 terrestrial photographs, 5244 drone photographs, 44 drone videos, and 182 meticulously recorded GPS points, all boasting an impressive level of precision to within +/- 1cm. The Reality Capture software played a crucial role in processing the vast amount of data collected during this comprehensive survey.
