Petroglyph V16 Khatm Al Melaha, Kalba, Sharjah. A Nubian Ibex, or perhaps a gazelle, stands to the left, and another animal may be visible to the right. The line beneath the animals is a common feature. This rock art dates back to the likely Neolithic 5th-4th Millennium BCE [Fossati 2019 Messages from the Past: Rock Art of the Al-Hajar Mountains (Oman)]. Khatm Al Melaha is a major archaeological site located on the coast of the Oman Sea near Kalba in Sharjah, UAE. It is one of the largest rock art sites in the UAE. The site also features stone houses, shell middens, stone tombs, and other elements that indicate occupations from at least the early Holocene to the 19th century. Over 175 stones with petroglyphs have been documented, and nearly 400 motifs have been identified. Each rock with a glyph has been assigned an ID number and a GPS coordinate. In a single day, 25,455 terrestrial photographs, 5,244 drone photographs, 44 drone videos, and 182 GPS points (+/- 1cm) were captured. All of the data was processed in Reality Capture.
