Human: DSTetch Version, Petroglyph N23 Khatm Al Melaha, Kalba, Sharjah. One wild ass. Likely Neolithic or earlier. [Fossati 2019 Messages from the Past: Rock Art of the Al-Hajar Mountains (Oman)]. Khatm Al Melaha is an archaeological site located on the coast of Oman Sea near Kalba in Sharjah, UAE. This site is one of the largest rock art sites found in the UAE. Over 175 stones with petroglyphs were thoroughly documented and nearly 400 distinct motifs were identified. Each stone featuring a glyph was assigned a unique ID number and GPS coordinate. In a single day, an impressive total of 25,455 terrestrial photographs, 5,244 drone photographs, 44 drone videos, and 182 precise GPS points (+/- 1cm) were captured. Petroglyphs were accurately identified using Radiance Scaling in Meshlab, materials lighting in Substance Painter, and by adjusting conditions in Sketchfab. Some carvings were completely invisible when viewed under standard conditions. Drawings were created only when a clear line could be confidently identified using one of these advanced techniques. Reality Capture and DStretch Version played crucial roles in the documentation process.
