Arabian Tahr, Sun symbol, snakes, and other iconic motifs are characteristic of southern Arabia, Oman, and the UAE, as highlighted by Fossati 2019 Messages from the Past: Rock Art of the Al-Hajar Mountains (Oman). Khatm Al Melaha is a prominent archaeological site situated on the coast of the Oman Sea near Kalba in Sharjah, UAE. As one of the largest rock art sites in the UAE, it boasts a rich history dating back to at least the early Holocene era and extending up to the 19th century. The site features stone houses, a shell midden, stone tombs, and other notable structures. Researchers have meticulously documented over 175 stones adorned with petroglyphs and identified nearly 400 distinct motifs. Each rock bearing a glyph was assigned an ID number and GPS coordinate for thorough documentation. In a single day, teams conducted an impressive array of tasks, including capturing 25,455 terrestrial photographs, 5,244 drone photographs, 44 drone videos, and 182 precise GPS points with an accuracy of +/- 1cm.
