DStretch Version, Petroglyph H12, Khatm Al Melaha, Kalba, Sharjah. Geometric patterns, animals, and other designs are common motifs found throughout southern Arabia, Oman, and the UAE. [Fossati 2019 Messages from the Past: Rock Art of the Al-Hajar Mountains (Oman)]. Khatm Al Melaha is an archaeological site situated on the coast of the Oman Sea near Kalba in Sharjah, UAE. This site boasts one of the largest rock art collections in the UAE. Archaeologists have also discovered stone houses, a shell midden, stone tombs and other features that suggest human occupation from at least the early Holocene to the 19th century. Over 175 stones with petroglyphs were meticulously documented and close to 400 motifs were identified. Each rock with a glyph was assigned a unique ID number and GPS coordinate. In one day alone, researchers captured 25455 terrestrial photographs, 5244 drone photographs, 44 drone videos, and 182 GPS points with an accuracy of +/- 1cm. Reality Capture
