Human Figure Discovered at Petroglyph Site in Sharjah. A human figure with a distinctive hat or headdress has been found etched into a rock face at the Petroglyph G6 site in Khatm Al Melaha, Kalba, Sharjah. Dating back to the Neolithic era, around 5th-4th Millennium BCE [Fossati 2019 Messages from the Past: Rock Art of the Al-Hajar Mountains (Oman)], this ancient artwork sheds light on the lives and culture of our ancestors. Khatm Al Melaha is a remarkable archaeological site situated on the coast of the Oman Sea near Kalba in Sharjah, UAE. It boasts an impressive collection of rock art, stone houses, shell middens, stone tombs, and other features that demonstrate human occupation from as early as the Holocene era to the 19th century. A team of researchers has documented over 175 stones featuring petroglyphs, with nearly 400 motifs identified. Each rock with a glyph was assigned an ID number and GPS coordinate, allowing for precise tracking and analysis. In a single day, the team captured 25455 terrestrial photographs, 5244 drone photographs, 44 drone videos, and 182 GPS points with an accuracy of +/- 1cm. All data was processed using Reality Capture technology, providing a comprehensive understanding of this ancient site.
