Human: Natural Version, Petroglyph G2, Khatm Al Melaha, Kalba, Sharjah. Two Syrian Wild Ass and Human Male with a hat or head dress are depicted, likely dating back to the Neolithic period or earlier. This motif is common in southern Arabia, Oman, and the UAE, as noted by Fossati (2019) in "Messages from the Past: Rock Art of the Al-Hajar Mountains" (Oman). Khatm Al Melaha, situated on the coast of the Oman Sea near Kalba in Sharjah, UAE, is an archaeological site boasting one of the largest rock art collections in the UAE. In addition to numerous petroglyphs, stone houses, a shell midden, and stone tombs are also present, indicating human occupation from at least the early Holocene era to the 19th century. Over 175 stones bearing petroglyphs were documented, with nearly 400 distinct motifs identified. Each rock featuring a glyph was assigned an ID number and GPS coordinate for future reference. A single day's work yielded over 25,455 terrestrial photographs, 5,244 drone photographs, 44 drone videos, and 182 precise GPS points (+/- 1cm), showcasing the comprehensive Reality Capture effort.
