Human Nature Unveiled through Artistic Expression: Petroglyph G12 Khatm Al Melaha, Kalba, Sharjah. Mysterious Creature, Elusive Documentation. Likely Dates to Neolithic Era 5th-4th Millennium BCE [Fossati 2019 Messages from the Past: Rock Art of the Al-Hajar Mountains (Oman)]. Khatm Al Melaha is a breathtaking archaeological site situated on the coast of the Oman Sea near Kalba in Sharjah, UAE. It boasts one of the largest rock art collections in the UAE. The site features stone houses, a shell midden, stone tombs, and other relics that indicate this area has been inhabited since at least the early Holocene era through to the 19th century. Over 175 stones bearing petroglyphs were meticulously documented, with nearly 400 motifs identified. Each rock with a glyph received a unique ID number and GPS coordinate. In a single day, an impressive total of 25,455 terrestrial photographs, 5,244 drone photographs, 44 drone videos, and 182 GPS points (with precision accuracy within +/- 1cm) were captured. All data was meticulously processed using Reality Capture and Substance Painter.
