Khatm Al Melaha boasts an impressive collection of petroglyphs on its coast along the Oman Sea near Kalba in Sharjah, UAE. This archaeological site stands out as one of the largest rock art sites in the UAE. Researchers documented over 175 stones bearing petroglyphs and identified close to 400 distinct motifs. Each stone with a glyph was assigned a unique ID number and GPS coordinate. In just one day, they collected an astonishing amount of data: 25,455 terrestrial photographs, 5,244 drone photographs, 44 drone videos, and 182 precise GPS points (within 1cm accuracy). Using advanced techniques such as Radiance Scaling in Meshlab, materials lighting in Substance Painter, and adjusting conditions on Sketchfab, experts successfully identified the petroglyphs.
