Natural Version Painted. Petroglyph C1, Khatm Al Melaha, Kalba, Sharjah. Human foot motif, which is common everywhere throughout the region. Date unknown was recorded by Fossati in 2019 Messages from the Past: Rock Art of the Al-Hajar Mountains (Oman). Khatm Al Melaha stands out as a spectacular archaeological site on the coast of the Oman Sea near Kalba in Sharjah, UAE. This impressive rock art site is one of the largest in the UAE. Stone houses, shell middens, stone tombs, and other features confirm that this site has been occupied since at least the early Holocene to the 19th century. More than 175 stones with petroglyphs were carefully documented, while nearly 400 motifs were identified. Each rock with a glyph was assigned an ID number and a GPS coordinate. In a single day, a massive amount of data was collected: over 25,000 terrestrial photographs, almost 5,250 drone photographs, 44 drone videos, and more than 182 precise GPS points (+/- 1cm). All this data was meticulously processed in Reality Capture and Substance Painter.
