This petrified wood was captured using a MakerBot Digitizer Desktop 3D Scanner in Dr. Franek Hasiuk's GeoFabLab, which is located within the Department of Geological and Atmospheric Sciences at Iowa State University. The scanning process employed the "dark" setting to produce the image.
