I spent several months designing and building my own printer, which ultimately taught me the fundamentals of CAD design and 3D printing itself. My main goal was to create a Prusa-style printer with an enclosure capable of producing high-temperature materials such as ABS. While I wouldn't build this machine in the same way today due to certain design flaws, there are still some innovative solutions worth sharing. I'll be breaking down the files component-by-component rather than releasing the entire printer design. This is because the overall design has some issues that I'd like to address. Instead, I relied on trial-and-error to determine the optimal distance between the wheels, finding 0.5mm steps to be sufficient for achieving a good fit. The OpenSCAD design is parametric, allowing you to make adjustments and customize it as needed. You can download and modify the files from my GitHub repository. When printing these components, be sure to use ABS or PETG materials and take advantage of their flexibility to tension the wheels on the extrusion.
