I spent several months designing and building my own printer from scratch, during which time I learned the fundamentals of CAD design and 3D printing itself. My primary goal was to create a Prusa-style printer with an enclosure capable of producing high-temperature materials like ABS. Although I would not construct this machine in the same manner again today, certain innovative and unique solutions are worth sharing, prompting me to present these files component by component rather than as a single printer with existing design flaws. Please watch the accompanying video at [youtube link here] for further details. All OpenSCAD files for the PetraPrinter are freely available on Github at https://github.com/zsellera/petra-printer. The PetraPrinter Collection can also be found on Thingiverse at https://www.thingiverse.com/zsellera/collections/petraprinter. ### About the Individual Components Print the idler holder flat on the bed, rotating it by 90 degrees to ensure accurate placement. The notches are a clever trick for achieving 100% infill where extra sturdiness is required. I printed this part with five walls and 30% triangular infill to maximize its structural integrity.
