Pet Crate Handle for Dog/Cat Crates
thingiverse
This is a straightforward design for universal metal cat/dog crates that I created to make my cat's vet visits less stressful. The handle comes in two variations: one solid piece or three separate pieces that can be bonded together using superglue. The handle was modeled after the original design that came with my particular crate, but with some minor adjustments to make it easier to print. I'm not sure what the maximum weight capacity is, but even the glued version is incredibly robust (I've tested it myself and it's supported my 14lb cat on numerous trips). **If you're concerned about its durability under heavy loads, read this.** By printing the three separate pieces instead of a single solid piece, you can print the "handle-left" and "handle-right" pieces sideways, eliminating the need to clean out support material from them. It's also recommended to print these pieces on their sides for added strength - they'll likely break along their layer lines if not done so. You can try printing with a larger nozzle, increasing your hotend temperature, or slowing down the print speed to help fuse the layers together. The final picture in the image carousel shows how I arranged the pieces on my build plate to minimize stringing and achieve the fastest possible print time. These pieces fit snugly together, so some light sanding may be necessary where they meet, depending on your printer's tolerances. I hope you and your pet find it useful!
