Pertetual folding card
thingiverse
I once witnessed a Gospel tract constructed from thin cardboard that could be folded in upon itself infinitely without ever folding inward. A 3D printed version of this concept exists now. This is my first rendition, and I am certain I will improve it. Video footage of this design in action can be accessed via: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6-CDlkO9rjQ Instructions are provided below. This project can be undertaken through various methods. If you are adventurous, you may attempt to print Section1of2 and Section2of2, remove any support structures that are generated, and snap the two sections together. Alternatively, you can choose to print each component separately before snapping them all into place simultaneously. Should you decide to do it this way, you will need to produce 2 units of each: L-left, L-right, Panel-long, Panel-short. Four units of Hinge-long and four units of Hinge-short will also be necessary. Additionally, I have included a file containing the complete assembled model in STL format. However, it is highly unlikely that this model could be printed with a single extruder, as any attempts to orient it may result in either the panels adhering together improperly or some hinges detaching prematurely. A revised version that can be printed in one piece is currently being worked on. I have formulated a plan for the new design and merely need to allocate sufficient time to see it through.
