Personalized Glowing Valentines for Kids
thingiverse
For my son's preschool class, we printed personalized, glowing Valentines for each child individually. My son and nearly all of his classmates have unique names not commonly found in mass-produced items. We printed the first 1mm in bright red and then switched filaments to print the details (including the personalized name) in GlowFill. Thanks to Riham's STL to OpenSCAD tool, I was able to create a Customizer project even though the heart and hook were originally designed in Blender. If you prefer a standard heart, simply turn off the Make Pendant option. Details on my modeling and printing process can be found at http://tgaw.com/wp/?p=333 Print Settings Printer Brand: MakerGear Printer: M2 Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: 0.25/0.10 Infill: 25% Notes: The red layers were printed in high resolution, with each layer 0.25mm thick. When I switched to GlowFill, I reduced the layer thickness to 0.10mm. Layers 1 - 100: ColorFabb Traffic Red PLA/PHA 101 and above: ColorFabb GlowFill How We Designed This Both the heart and hook were originally designed in Blender. Using Riham's STL to OpenSCAD tool, I converted that design into OpenSCAD code. By adjusting OpenSCAD variables, I was able to quickly create models for all 17 children.
