Personal Antimicrobial Facemask

Personal Antimicrobial Facemask

Coronavirus COVID-19 has gotten out of hand and protective masks are flying off the shelves worldwide, leading to skyrocketing demand that far outpaces available supply stocks and leaves thousands without a mask to call their own. To protect myself, I've designed this innovative solution that anyone can print at home using just a hairdryer to thermoform the piece into a custom fit tailored perfectly to your face. But how effective is this 3D printed design in protecting us from COVID-19? The principle behind it lies in combining antimicrobial materials with low-cost disposable fabrics like polypropylene SMS, commonly used for surgical clothing and readily available in hospitals worldwide. These antimicrobial facemasks create a shield against the virus by covering regular masks. To speed up production and make it hassle-free, this design is printed flat without supports, then adjusted to fit each face using heat to thermoform the piece into a personalized mold. You will need an antimicrobial 3D printed filament for this project, which I believe is now readily available almost everywhere in the world. **IMPORTANT: THIS DESIGN IS A PROOF-OF-CONCEPT AND HAS NOT BEEN LABORATORILY TESTED ON ANY PATIENT. USE AT YOUR OWN RISK.**
