Perseverance
myminifactory
Hand-operated animation of an immovable object and an almost unstoppable force showcases great conversational potential as a bookend, and printing the figurine in glow-in-the-dark filament creates mesmerizing nighttime effects. You'll require unwavering perseverance to assemble this complex assembly due to its numerous intricate parts. A slow-motion video of this remarkable creation is available at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EWdzW8orozE. The prototype, which features a motorized mechanism, can be viewed in action at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sbmPax3fRTc. Please note that the hand-operated version represents the final design, whereas the motorized prototype is available upon request for anyone interested in obtaining the motorized files. This creative project was inspired by the "Disney Computation Designs of Mechanical Characters" video found at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DfznnKUwywQ. This engaging study explores the principles of fulcrums and gears, demonstrating exceptional craftsmanship. I developed custom software to simulate the interactions between various components, and designed this assembly using Sketchup 8, subsequently printing it in PLA on a Makerbot Replicator 2 with Makerware 2.3.3.42.
