Perpetual Motion

Perpetual Motion

thingiverse

A spatial Bricard 6-Bar linkage card toy can be made from card stock, either by laser cutting or with scissors. Originally designed for a school arts festival, it features slogans on its faces and is also called a "mechanical donut" or "Perpetual Motion." The .cdr file can print to an Epilog Zing Laser, while the .pdf file can be used with any printer. To assemble, fold along dashed lines and tape edges in sequence from 1 to 6, then join the first to the last, tape matching edge 7, flip and tape edge 8 on the other side. The more accurate the cutting, the better the movement. Additional related designs can be found in IsoAxis and Kaleidocycles.
