Perpendicular Mounting Bracket for a 4x4

Perpendicular Mounting Bracket for a 4x4

I built a custom wall-mounted desk a few years ago and needed to support it in the front using 4x4s and "for the time being" (way too long) I had left the 4x4s just propped under the surface. But we have a child who's just now starting to walk, and it's definitely time to secure these things to the underside of the desk. The problem has been, for me, that I'm unaware of anything commercially available that will really hold the front legs on the way I want (and L brackets aren't going to do). So I decided to make one. This bracket is designed to be held on using 1/4-inch screws or bolts: 4 through the top and 4 going into the sides of the 4x4 (one on each side). There is a little bit of wiggle room around the 4x4, on purpose. I'm considering possibly creating some printable thin spacers to wedge into the sides, which will align to the bolt holes on the sides. I printed mine with the following specifications: • 10% infill (still very strong!) • Low quality (in Cura; I flipped the model upside down in Cura to print) • using SUNLU PLA • no supports used (the holes didn't seem to need them)
