Note! This is an improved version of the first one I published about a year ago. 3 mm screws and square nuts have been added to allow for the rods and bushings to be tightly fitted.

This drilling jig can be used to drill holes perpendicular to a surface.

I have made it for my Bosch cordless drill (Bosch GSR 12V-15 FC), but decided to make it more universal by using an adaptor to fit the cordless drills to the fixture.

It should be easy to adapt to models from other manufacturers, by modifying the included adaptor STEP file. Please share your design if you make another adapter :-)

Notrial made an adapter for a Dewalt that fits this drilling jig: https://www.printables.com/model/255922-perpendicular-drilling-jig-adapter-for-dewalt-cord

Designed for 8mm steel rods and bushings commonly used in 3D printers.

It might not be necessary to use expensive linear bushings or bearings. You can instead print the included bushing, but beware that this is not ideal and that some tweaking to your filament settings may be necessary.

Printing: You can increase the number of vertical shells if you want. I have printed it with 2 vertical shells with good results. All stl-files have the parts placed in proper direction for printing with no supports.

Post printing: Depending on the print quality, you may have to sand the adaptor a bit to make it fit your drill and the fixture.

Change history:

20221027:

Added picture of Bosch GSR12V15 FC, which my adapter was designed for.

20220809:

Added link to Notrial's Dewalt adapter

20220531:

Improved version

20220602:

Better threads for finger nuts and rod locks.

Square nuts are easier to fit.

20220603:

The handle bar which holds the handle parts together, has been reduced slightly to make the assembly easier.

Missing chamfers in fixture have been fixed.

20220604:

The adaptor locks have been slightly reduced to make it easier to rotate in the fixture.

The depth stop plate hole's diameter has been increased, which makes it slide easier on the rods (grab the plate when you adjust the depth).

A big thanks to Jeff Osborne, who modelled the Bosch cordless drill.
https://grabcad.com/library/bosch-flexiclick-drill-driver-system-1
