Perkolating Coffee Cap
thingiverse
Update v5: added a quick hole all the way to the handle to match real lids more closely like this one. The original files are kept intact in case anyone wants the version without the hole in the center for any reason. This was a 30-minute design of a cap for a coffee percolator. The original design consisted only of a metal cap, and the instructions referred to a see-through cap for timing how long to let the coffee perk. Clearly, an all-metal cap won't be as easy to use in this way. The cap is designed to be 4 inches in diameter for its inner ring. It's intended to print with transparent ABS or another high-temperature plastic that's clear. Since this design is for a food item, it's essential to thoroughly clean the printed object and make sure you know where your filament and extruder have been. Ultimately, it's up to you to ensure that your printer is semi-food safe. If you print in ABS, I highly recommend doing a good amount of vapor smoothing to get rid of ridges where particles and unwanted materials can become stuck. Print Settings: Printer: TronXY P802E Rafts: Yes Supports: Yes Resolution: High Infill: User preference Notes: This design prints very well without support up until the center, approximately 40mm from the start, and the retaining ring on the outside. The default slic3r support settings seem to work well. Post-Printing: Vapor smooth it! If using ABS, you must vapor smooth this item.
