I Modified an Existing Peristaltic Pump to Work with a Stepper Motor, Creating a Cost-Effective Solution for My Needs. Modifying the peristaltic pump was actually easier than rewriting its firmware from scratch. I decided to upgrade it to use a stepper motor because of its efficiency and reliability. You can see the end result in action on my YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KB8H-T4nDkI. The design is relatively simple, with a geared system that allows for easy integration with the stepper motor. However, this simplicity means there's some noticeable backlash, which isn't ideal for precise dispensing applications. To make it work, I had to modify the pump's body to fit the new gears and drill holes in the base for the shafts. I also needed a few pieces of 5mm shaft. It's been over a year since this project started, so unfortunately, I don't have access to the original assembly files anymore. I've lost some details like the reduction rate, but overall, it was a worthwhile upgrade.
