Periodic Table of Elements
thingiverse
Think of it as an easy, fun, didactic way of learning the elements of the periodic table. There's something new to discover on each face: the element's name, its symbol, its boiling and melting point, density, the atomic number and its volume. Since I struggled so hard learning this back in high school, I thought it would be easier for young children to use a puzzle-like system to understand every aspect of each element, since it's actually very useful as an adult, even during Sundays' crosswords. At first, I couldn't organize it to fit the printing surface, then I thought maybe I just break the frame in half and make the pieces bigger so the information is easier to read. I used #Rhinoceros for this project. Drew the frame first and divided it into each category, then I formed the dice and placed the text on each face. Custom Section Project The main objective with this project is for students to learn the periodic table. Audiences: Students from 13 to 16 years old, 8th to 11th grade Preparation: Students will only need previous knowledge on chemistry, the basics that they have learned so far during high school. Steps: Introducing the students to the new concept of the periodic table, so they can learn new things easier by a didactic puzzle-like game that will allow them to understand and use the elements without even knowing they're actually learning something useful. Results: Students will learn how to use the elements of the periodic table as well as learning how to use and print objects with a 3D printer, making them realize you can actually use technology to improve the way you do things daily and not only playing games online and printing cute pokemons.
