Pergo French Door Spring Ball Door Latch Replacement

SEE my remixed version! If you're stuck with French or double doors that have a spring-loaded ball bearing latch, you know exactly what I'm talking about. Always in need of adjustment and always losing one ball or the other - it's enough to drive anyone crazy! So I decided to take matters into my own hands and here's my replacement. Since ABS was too worn out for me to use, I went with PLA on the first ones. I chose 15% infill, which made me think that I'd definitely need some support. I used "lines" and a Dremel flat grind wheel to smooth things out. I'm sharing the original source file from 123D so you can mess around with it yourself if you want to. For my door jam, I used a 5mm space which required a 15-degree tilt on top. You might get 3.5 mm spacing if you do a 10-degree tilt instead. A good remix would probably involve adding a key line to the round base so the device always points towards the closing direction of the door. To do that, though, you'd have to carve a groove in the door's wood - not something I'm ready to take on yet! Maybe future revisions will get exactly that right. Just happy to give back to this awesome community for all the great designs we've shared together. Enjoy! Print Settings: Rafts: No Supports: Yes Infill:
