Pergamene Votive Offering - Wounded Gaul

Pergamene Votive Offering - Wounded Gaul

myminifactory

A powerful warrior lies wounded on the ground. He is part of a quartet that recreates a votive offering made by Attalus II, the Pergamene dynast, along the south wall of the Athenian Acropolis between 167 and 166 BC. The four sculptures depict different battles, two from mythology and two from historical events, with this one being a depiction of the clash against the Galatians.
