This small ancient votive offering from Pergamon portrays a nude male figure lying on his back with his right arm raised above his head, grasping a sword. As part of a group of four, these statues replicate a votive offering believed to have been made by the Pergamene ruler Attalus II and installed along the south wall of the Athenian Acropolis between 167-166 BC. Representing four pivotal battles, two mythical and two historical in nature, this particular statue depicts The Giant.
