This perforated sheet metal features a 1/16" hole and a staggered (hex) pattern of 3/32" size holes, made from 22 GA (.0299") material in a 48"x120" sheet. The untrimmed file in SolidWorks 2017 contains a 23 x 27 linear array of internal (virtual) parts with a sketch array of 23 x 56 holes, totaling 799,848 holes. Although the untrimmed file is under 2MB and displays quickly, trimming it to 48"x120" increases the size to 54MB. Trimming and assembling individual parts on the sheet edges reduces the file size to 11MB while preserving the dimensions. Curved or formed perforated sheets can be created using this method if the curvature is modeled at the part level.
