The Cabeçuda Shell Mound in Laguna, Santa Catarina, is considered one of the largest and most important shell mounds in southern Brazil, both for its historical significance and prehistoric occupation. This site, dated between 4120±120 and 1800±40 years ago, was excavated by Luiz de Castro Faria between 1950 and 1951. Archaeological interventions there revealed an extraordinary archaeological richness - lithic artifacts and human skeletons, fragments of charcoals, fish bones, layers of ashes and shells, and diabásio blocks. The Cabeçuda Shell Mound was revisited by a team from the National Museum in 2010, 2011, and most recently in 2017. The study of the site's stratigraphy was done through analyses of profiles, such as Profile 2, locus 2, which was subject to photogrammetric registration for creating a three-dimensional model.
