The Sambaqui of Cabeçuda, located in Laguna, Santa Catarina, is considered one of the largest and most important sambaquis in southern Brazil, both for its historical significance and prehistoric occupation. This site, dated between 4120±120 and 1800±40 years ago, was excavated by Luiz de Castro Faria between 1950 and 1951. The archaeological interventions made there showed an extraordinary richness of artifacts - lithic artifacts and human skeletons, fragments of coals, fish bones, layers of ashes and shells, and diabásio blocks. The Sambaqui of Cabeçuda was revisited by a team from the National Museum in 2010, 2011, and recently in 2017. The study of the site's stratigraphy was made through analyses of profiles. The study of the site's stratigraphy was made through analyses of profiles, as is the case with Profile 1 presented here. This current record shows Profile 1, located at Locus 1, after removing a coal column.
