Perfect Filament Spool Clip
thingiverse
I found a spool filament clip I really liked the design of, but it had a couple flaws. One is the clip doesn't hold tight enough for most of my spools, and the other is, people complained about the hole being too small for the 1.75mm filament. You can see that item here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:12516 So I recreated this item fixing both of these issues. The clip prints with only 0.5mm gap, so it should hold firmly to any spool, and the hole for 1.75mm is 2.5mm, and the filament slides in nicely. I don't have any 3mm filament to test the 3mm clip with, but I made the hole 4mm, so it should work fine as well. I also made the clip 7mm wide rather than 10mm. Make sure you take the clip off the spool while printing, otherwise it can catch and cause a failed print. I recommend printing these at 100% fill. **UPDATE 2021-06-17** I made a v2 with the filament holes a little smaller so it doesn't slide out very easily (I tested the holes on 20 different 1.75mm fillaments, and it fit all of them). I also added rounded edges so if you leave the clip on the spool while you print, it will slip past rather than potentially get hung up on the clip and cause a failed print.
