Perched Dragon
thingiverse
This is my debut sculptural piece. It can be mounted on a wall or displayed on a table as you like. I'm thrilled with how the dragons turned out. I hope you'll love it too! Print Settings Rafts Don't worry, just ignore this option. Supports Absolutely, use them. Resolution The higher setting will give the best results. Infill Pack the layers in tightly for maximum detail. Notes Be aware that I printed my piece at its absolute smallest size - a mere .2mm resolution - to make it accessible to everyone. I highly recommend scaling it up to get more details out of the print, unless you're fortunate enough to have better than .2mm resolution technology. To achieve the best results, you'll need to tinker with both model orientation and support settings in your software. Cleaning those supports off is a delicate process that requires patience to avoid damaging the print - which is why I strongly advise against printing at this small size. Post-Printing The finishing touches include two little beads for the eyes and some careful brushwork. When placing the dragon on the ring, put the tail through first, followed by the head. Make sure the feet and one hand that rests on the ring are behind it. Bring the tail back until it forms a neat loop around the ring. Then, move your feet forward so they land snugly on the ring. Last but not least, guide the front hand of the dragon towards you and position two fingers delicately on each side of the ring.
