Perception Kayaks Solo Mounts
thingiverse
Perception Kayak offers a feature in their latest models called the "Solo" mount. This innovative system consists of molded threaded holes around the kayak, designed to accommodate various accessories such as fishing pole holders and depth finders/electronics. I appreciate the idea of expanding my boat's capabilities with additional features, but I strongly disagree with Perception Kayak's decision to sell this mounting system for approximately $30, which I believe is an excessive price. To avoid paying this premium, I chose to reverse-engineer the Solo mount. This allowed me to create a range of custom accessories tailored to my specific needs. The first designs I developed included a zip-tie lock down for wire management, a fishing pole holder mount compatible with Scotty bases, 1-inch and 1.5-inch ball mounts for use with RAM mounting systems, and the base geometry in both .stl and .stp file formats for anyone interested in recreating or modifying these designs. I am thrilled to share these open-source designs with the community, promoting a free and collaborative approach to boat customization.
