PERANAKAN HOUSE N SCALE
thingiverse
Hey there! Thanks for stopping by. My latest tour on Google Maps led me straight to these stunning heritage houses in Singapore - a collection of vibrant architectural masterpieces known as Peranakan Houses. Katong, once home to coconut plantations and weekend retreats for wealthy city dwellers, transformed into a residential suburb in the early 20th century. It became populated by an English-educated middle class, including Peranakans and Eurasians. The neighboring Joo Chiat area is named after Chew Joo Chiat, a prosperous Chinese landowner from the early 20th century. The area's identity is defined by its unique pre-war architecture - colorful two-storey shophouses and terrace houses with intricate facades, ornate motifs, and ceramic tiles. The term Peranakan refers to people of Chinese and Malay/Indonesian heritage, born locally in Indonesia or Malaysia. This piece was designed with attention to detail, making it a great addition for railway layouts looking for something unique. If you like what you see, be sure to follow me! I'm working on designing interesting pieces for dioramas, railway layouts, and quirky displays that can add some personality to your home.
