The replacement piece is designed to fit standard pepper or salt grinders found in many French kitchens. The grinder itself is crafted from sturdy glass, with a rotating knob that connects seamlessly to a square shaft via an acrylic component. Unfortunately, this design choice is prone to failure as the acrylic part is likely to shatter easily. This new replacement piece addresses the original flawed design by offering a more resilient alternative. It replaces the vulnerable acrylic block with a stronger, more durable option. As a result, the glass body of the grinder is less likely to crack before showing any signs of wear and tear. The transparent glass construction allows for creative freedom in terms of color combinations. I chose to stick with a classic black and white design, perfect for separating pepper from salt.
