Manche Pfeffermühlen (z.B. Peugeot) verarbeiten nur Pfefferkörner, die kleiner als ca. 5 mm sind. Zu große Körner werden nicht vom Mahlwerk erfasst und die Mühle wirft keinen Pfeffer aus. Der Pfeffertrichter verhindert, dass zu große Körner in die Mühle gelangen. Some pepper mills (e.g. Peugeot) only process peppercorns that are smaller than approx. 5 mm. Grains that are too large are not caught by the grinder and the mill does not eject any pepper. The pepper hopper prevents grains that are too large from entering the grinder.
