This optimized Pentakis Dodecahedron model is designed for printing on an SLA/resin machine like the Form2. Its delicate features push the limits of what can be 3D printed on a resin printer, requiring steady and gentle hands to remove support material without breaking the model. For a sturdier version, scale up the design to a larger size before printing. To print on an FDM/filament printer like an Ultimaker, double the size of the resin model or download our previous thicker version from Thingiverse. The Pentakis Dodecahedron boasts 60 faces, 90 edges, and 32 vertices. Each face is a unique isosceles triangle. It's one of the 13 Catalan solids, dual to the Truncated Icosahedron. This design combines the characteristics of a Dodecahedron with five-sided pyramids added to each face. Make the pyramids slightly taller and pairs of triangles combine to form rhombuses, resulting in another Catalan solid, the Rhombic Triacontahedron.
