Penrose Snap Tiles
thingiverse
The Penrose tiles, designed by pleppik, inspired me to create self-supporting structures. Snap shapes ensure aperiodic patterns due to matching rules being upheld when all pieces are right-side up. Print multiple rhombuses and utilize Multiply for efficient printing. Negative separation can aid in fitting more shapes on TOM build platform. An Automated Build Platform would enhance speed, but manual printing allows 30 tiles per hour. Assembling the tiles is straightforward, though some parts may seem stymied; arcs represent matching rules and assist in placement. The ratio of rhombus types approaches the golden ratio (~1.618) as patterns grow. OpenSCAD offers parametric customization.
