Penrose P3 Tiles

Penrose P3 Tiles

thingiverse

Penrose tilings provide a unique surface pattern with exceptional properties, such as their aperiodicity, 5-fold symmetry, and self-similarity. They require specific tile placements, where round notches must align with round protrusions, and triangular notches with triangular protrusions, to avoid creating defects. The tiles can be found in variations, like the rhombus (P3) tiling, which uses two distinct tiles. However, note that a proper Penrose tiling requires approximately 16 large tiles for every 10 small ones. To create your own tiling, print multiple copies of this pattern and meticulously fit the tiles together according to their notch and protrusion types. Remember that you may need more than one set of printed tiles to fully explore the potential of Penrose tilings.
