You're looking at a money pouch from Asped made of cat skin. The left front paw is decorated with a red tassel. The right front paw is missing one, but it's almost certain that one was there too. This money cat or cat purse as it's also known comes from the 1700s. It seems this type of wallet was quite common at the time and shows how people made do with what they had. The money cat was used with the opening up, but we think it looks more fun like this - a bit like it's reciting Shakespeare or trying its hand at flamenco dancing.
