I've replaced the gear on my Penn Rival 30 with a new one, and it's been working smoothly. The old gear was made of plastic, but I haven't encountered any issues with this one either - it seems to be functioning just fine after three uses. To ensure everything runs smoothly, don't forget to apply some grease to the new gear as well as the other gears in the system.
