Using high-quality paint such as Dupli-Color automotive lacquer, I coated each color and clear coat. To make smooth work of it, I used a wet sander on low grit, then switched to 1000 grit for perfection. A Dremel rotary tool helped me get into tight spaces with precision. For masking, I relied on blue painter's tape but made sure to lay it down smoothly and trim it precisely with an Xacto knife to create vibrant color zones. To prevent mistakes, paint in thin layers (I used four colors, two clear coats) and sand between them – except when applying clear coat.
