Penguin - Freestanding Two Colour
thingiverse
I'm working on redesigning a penguin model that works seamlessly with dual extruder printers, like my UM3. The original design has been completely reworked from scratch with several key modifications: - I've slimmed down the body and given it slightly lower wings to give it a more adorable appearance. - Feet have been removed and replaced with a rounded body for a cleaner look. - Symmetrical eyes add a touch of elegance. - Support is only required under the wings; I've found that omitting support from the nose hole works perfectly. Scaling the print up to 60% allows you to insert a small amount of 2.85mm filament into the nose, giving it a bit more detail. Alternatively, you can print the nose separately and include it in the model for completeness. The design has been optimized to serve as a character token in a small board game I'm currently developing. In the photos, the parts are scaled at 60%, printed with a 0.1mm layer height using cheap PLA on my UM3 printer, which has been acting up lately. Support was only provided under the wings. The model has been exported with fine mesh to ensure it scales well. I drew inspiration from cipis' design (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2418547).
