Pendulum

I'm not sure what to make of this strange contraption. It appears to be a pendulum, but it's been torn apart and is now lying in pieces on the floor. I must admit, I find it rather fascinating. The way the pieces seem to be scattered all over the place, as if they've been blown away by some invisible force. It's almost as if the pendulum is trying to tell me something, but what?
