Pendulum Board Game Player Mat Cover
thingiverse
My version of a player mat for Pendulum is designed to address concerns about VP tokens getting bumped during frantic gameplay. I haven't experienced this issue myself, but thought I'd create a design anyway. Please note that most standard print beds may not be able to handle printing this large mat. The size is just too big at 280 x 165 mm, which exceeds the maximum build volume of many printers. You will likely need to section it out to print it successfully. Since I don't require these mats myself, I won't be providing a pre-sectioned model. If you download and enjoy printing these files, please consider showing your appreciation with a tip. Designing items takes time and filament resources, and every little bit counts. You can send a tip through PayPal using the following link: https://paypal.me/sethgitter?locale.x=en_US I aimed to strike a balance between preventing VP trackers from flying everywhere if the overlay gets bumped, while also allowing for easy movement along the track during normal gameplay. This design achieves that balance by tolerating some minor movement up and down the track when bumped with force. However, it's still recommended to place a neoprene game mat under your player board and keep your game board to the side. I've tested various components through prototypes, but haven't printed the full model yet. Images of those tests are provided for reference. If you're interested in purchasing other game accessories, I sell them on my Etsy shop at the following link: https://www.etsy.com/listing/838737166/pendulum-board-game-accessories?ga_order=most_relevant&ga_search_type=all&ga_view_type=gallery&ga_search_query=pendulum+board+game&ref=sr_gallery-1-2&organic_search_click=1&frs=1. Please note that my VP tokens won't work with this overlay due to their tight fit and rougher bottom. If you want to print the overlay yourself and order my tokens, please message me through Etsy to inquire about whether I can modify them to be smaller and have a smoother base. I created the design using Adobe Sketchpad, converting a photo of the game's original player boards into an .svg file, and then importing it into Tinkercad. I adjusted the holes to be more circular and built up the mat around this initial framework. The problem I encountered was that the player mats are 280 x 165 mm in size, which is about 60 mm too large for my printer's (Ender 5) maximum build volume. Even at a 45-degree angle, it just overlaps the limits of the print bed. So, most individuals will need to section out this print successfully.
